Just like Used to do only a few months ago, many moms around ( including yourself!) could possibly be wondering things to feed baby: homemade food or food pouches/jars? - baby food storage
I haven't got a perfect answer however i do have a response that creates sense to me here's why…
I started out with an ambition to skip packaged baby food completely and also be the trooper mom who feeds her child fresh, pureed fruits and vegetables. As we dived deeper in the weeks of solids, I noticed how unrealistic this goal is, to me. We started buying organic pouches mostly by Plum, Sprout and Ella's. I, of course, loved but still love how convenient they can be. Unscrew the cap, squeeze and serve, awesome!
I probably viewed all the ingredients coming from all those pouches (i always bought) and to will you'll find nothing scary included in them. They generally do include the foods that they claim that they can contain apart from if they state "beans" and incredibly there may be bean flour combined or rice as soon as again they've added rice flour to your mix. I often think about the combinations they have and then suggest my own, personal. As an example, I frequently make broccoli with apples or kale with apples and carrots. Home made combinations taste much much better than the pouch foods. Yams, for instance, taste completely different than the pouched yams. So once more, are we really introducing our babies to real tastes by feeding them mostly pre-made foods? Personally i think if I only used packaged food I might somehow be cheating my daughter because the foods don't taste like whole, fresh produce. This is not to say never rely on them! I learned to produce a balance and I make certain my baby eats a minumum of one do-it-yourself meal every day. I spend at some point each week making baby food (about Three hours) so i make extra that i then freeze. I take advantage of the frozen meals within 1-2 weeks. Furthermore, i stick enough within the fridge to last Three days. I exploit pouches when out and about or when baby goes to spend the morning at grandma's. It works!
So in summary, I am that pouches should be utilized as a backup and real food will happen first. That's my personal opinion and also the "dietitian in me" opinion. I believe it's very important show them real food from the comfort of inception. It tastes different, it is more enjoyable, it's more whole and nutritious. It offers none or minimal processing. - baby food storage
